Tarutung City 



Hello guys..welcome back to my blog 😁
Oh ya this blog I want to tell you about my origin city, Tarutung. I was not born and raised there, but that's my village :). Tarutung City is a sub-district town which is the capital of North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. Tarutung City is a sub-district that has the smallest area in North Tapanuli Regency but has the highest density in North Tapanuli Regency.
Tarutung is the term for durian fruit which in Batak language is called tarutung,so...the name of the City of Tarutung as the name for the name of the Capital City of North Tapanuli Regency can be called the city of durian. Tarutung being in a hilly area and having cold temperatures and still beautiful. A little history about tarutung namely, It is said that this area used to be named Hutatoruan which was the center of settlement and trade. Located around a banyan tree in the city center called Onan Sitaru or "barter market".
When the Dutch entered, the trade was diverted to the area near Tangsi in the Netherlands. To persuade residents to trade around Tangsi, the Dutch then planted durian trees.

One of the interesting information about the city of Tarutung is that there are many tourist attractions that can be visited when we come to this city, here are some tourist attractions that can be visited in the city of Tarutung,namely :
1. Salib Kasih

Located in the hilly area of ​​the city of Tarutung, Salib Kasih can be seen directly from the city of Tarutung. With a height of about 40 meters, the Cross of Love transforms as a symbol and          trademark of the city of Tarutung. The love cross is a monument that was built to commemorate
the services of the German missionary priest, Rev. I.L.Nomensen who contributed to the spread of      Christianity in the Batak area. Before tourists reach the place, visitors must pass 400 stairs. But if        you want to be quick and more practical, the tourist manager also provides shortcuts so you don't        have to walk down every child stairs. When you enter this tourist area you will pass through a
large and magnificent entrance, here you have to pay Rp 10,000 per person, very cheap right? :)

2. Sipaholon Hot Water
This Sipoholon hot water North Tapanuli comes from the center of the earth's stomach springs that always flow at any time. Sipoholon Hot Water contains sulfur and the good for everyone who enjoys it is that it can nourish, soften and tighten the skin.The beauty and exoticism of limestone mountains combined with the unique colors of the mountain can amaze you and want to take a selfie photo by taking the background of the limestone mountain. If you want to feel the sensation of soaking in Sipoholon visitors must pay an entrance ticket for Rp. 5,000.
After being satisfied to take a bath in the Sipoholon hot spring bath, the stomach will feel rumbling and hungry, in the Sipoholon hot spring there are also many eating places / restaurants that provide a variety of typical Tapanuli culinary delights that are delicious and friendly in the pocket.

3. Soda Water

Soda water tourism is also worth visiting, located in one million tarutung, soda water is one of the two soda water in the world. It is a large swimming pool surrounded by extensive rice fields, making this place unique, while we swim, we also enjoy the view of the vast rice fields that give the impression of a beautiful village. For the entrance ticket, the manager lets you enjoy this soda water bath for FREE! You only need to pay to rent a tire and buy food there.


Traveling far can not be separated from eating the typical food of the city that we visit. Tarutung is also famous for its culinary tourism too. Here are some typical foods of the city of Tarutung, which you only find only in the city of Tarutung.
1. Talam Cake
Why is it called talam cake? because this cake is cooked in a talam (large circle shaped baking sheet), Made from brown sugar and coconut milk stirred with the right temperature until thickened then the coconut milk top is made so the color of this cake is red and white . This food is only sold at Tarutung market and is only open on Wednesday and Saturday.

2. Sihobuk Peanuts 
For peanuts lovers, Sihobuk peanuts can be your favorite nuts,Sihobuk peanuts are a typical food of the city of Tarutung. This peanuts is made directly by the villagers "Sihobuk" Tarutung which is cooked on sand which is heated using firewood. So that the maturity level of the peanuts is right.

3. Putu Cake 
This one cake is made from rice flour which is put into a bowl and steamed with firewood, only sold in the village simorangkir, Tarutung. This cake is suitable as a substitute for rice in the morning combined with tea or warm coffee.
